Shop My Favourites

Although we've had a little respite from the heatwave lately, the temperature seems to be creeping back up again as we head into the weekend, meaning I'm ready to don my current favourite way of dressing myself - a cotton shirt and twirly skirt.

A classic shirt is a quintessential piece of my wardrobe throughout the seasons but a few tweaks bring it earnestly into hot weather territory. Rolling up the sleeves keeps things casual, whilst keeping my chubby upper arms covered, and tying up the front makes it work so well with skirts or high-waisted trousers like the linen pair I'm wearing endlessly lately. A breathable 100% cotton always, but summer also calls for linen - of which I think M&S do these fabulous ones that are wildly inexpensive.

Enduring, casual, versatile, a summer shirt is a must.

Printed or plain, it's up to you!

And what more lovely than to pair it with the twirliest of midi skirts - I've become their biggest fan.

Especially when they're in blue and white.

There was definitely a time when all my skirts and dresses were above the knee, no doubt influenced by my peers, and midi dresses were something of a '30+' ideal if they weren't clinging to every curve, but nowadays I favour a hemline much closer to the ground ;)

And to be frank, they're the most perfect item for a fashion inbetweenie like me - all the style and comfort, with just a little less leg on show.

A big straw bag (mine was not enough for the shopping of this day..) and some flat sandals for day, a quick change into some block heels, a brighter lip and some earrings for the evening - day to night in a snap.
