"On a rainy day, it's good to get away."
Sometimes, you just need to get away from the stresses of life and the rat race of the city.
There really is something in 'going back in time' to the vintage era of a sleepy southern village. Leaving technology, stress and annoyances behind and jumping into a slower pace of life, out in the country. Nature has a beautiful way of soothing whatever ailments you languish in, and a lack of distractions lets you appreciate what should be taking priority in your life.
Manicured gardens, gloriously empty abbeys, country walks, springtime flowers, architecture, craftsmanship, undisturbed nature, quaint independent stores, the sea, cobbled streets and idiosyncratic streets, seafaring knick knacks, fresh, locally-sourced produce, home made fare, wild horses, maybe the New Forest is the perfect escape.
I live in the New Forest, so it's always lovely to see it from the point of view of a visitor! I'm glad you had a nice time, looks like you had some really yummy food too!
