I've a contented grin on my face right now.
Partly due to the glorious sunshine we've been bestowed lately.
And partly due to a couple of newcomers to my wardrobe.

I stayed in with F last weekend. Making some flaky rough-puff for our pie, catching up on Masterchef, and eating far too much lemon tart (F was incredulous I still had room after dinner. I just reminded him of my 'mains stomach' and 'dessert stomach').
When the sun broke through the clouds on Sunday, we couldn't wait to rush out, catch a little daytime glimmer and walk off the weekend's excesses.
And I couldn't wait to don my new tweed blazer and sturdy, leather boots, both c/o Rydale.
I've spoken before of my love for tweed. I love how classic, versatile and hardwearing it is. Wear with loafers, chinos and an oxford shirt for a day in the city, or over a thick jumper, like I have, with some equestrian boots for a day out in the field (white jeans are incredibly impractical I'm sure for most country pursuits but I implore you to humour me on this occasion ;)
This particular piece tickles me all sorts of pink.
A sturdy weave of 100% wool, it's really well constructed and I'm enamoured with the cut - the size 14 fits over my favourite cable knit sweater like a glove. Four buttons and a slit at the back help it nip in at the waist and flare out over the hips.
Whilst it's available in an array of colour choices, I love the 'Emma', with it's subtle flecks of orange and green among the olive, and rich, blood orange lining.
I feel like lady of the manor! ;)
I wanted a pair of boots suitable for all terrains, enduring snow and sleet and rain and all that, and these knee-high leather pair are Just That Boot - available in mens and kids too should you want to kit out the entire family.
Waterproof, weatherproof, and splattered-with-mud-by-the-dog-proof (100% verified), they've a soft, suede-like lining and are frankly, very modestly priced for the quality (10 house points to those of you that notice the resemblance to another pair of rather more expensive boots btw!). I've a reasonably wide calf and there's room to spare too.
Tug them on and tighten the laces!
Ready to face our blustery Sunday.
And surely blustery at times it was! The kind to sweep you off your feet (actually quite fun). But in my hardy getup, I was ready to brave all weathers.
Although always ready to retreat into the warmth and comfort of say, a farm shop..
The sight of rosy, russet apples. Gleaming cherry toms. Deep, jewel-toned cabbages.
You're coming home with me!
Time to head back and catch up with some Masterchef, via a few stiles to make the most of these boots ;)
