I won't pretend that the clean, minimalist packaging of A'pieu's Soo Boo Ji line didn't draw me in, but I was also pretty interested by a Korean range specially formulated for combination skin.

There are a few skincare items to the line and a couple of foundations, but the SPF 50 lotion (that claims to be both non-whitening and non-greasy) and SPF 50 cushion were what I was most interested to try.

Soo Boo Ji is an abbreviation of a Korean phrase that translates as 'oily skin lacking moisture', and a trend outside of just the A'Pieu brand. It's a movement that's supposed to temper dehydration as much as it controls oil - something that I feel would be perfect for so many of our skins.

I often find that combination skin can be quite tricky, especially with high SPF's. I absolutely don't want something white and thick, but I equally don't want a gel or lotion that's so full of alcohol you can smell it as soon as you open the bottle (I'm thinking of you the Body Shop SPF essence..)

The best thing about the Soo Boo Ji Sun Cotton sunscreen are it's texture and finish.

Broad spectrum and alcohol-free with chemical sunscreens, it's lovely and light, going on milky and leaving a very slight 'powdered' feel - ingredients here.

And no white cast!

I'd really recommend this one.

Onto the cushion.

Described to have a 'cotton-like' finish to the skin, and designed to hydrate the deeper skin layers whilst controlling oil at the service, the cushion is one of the best affordable options I've tried. Whilst the Etude House Real Powder cushion is drier and thicker in texture, the Soo Boo Ji feels more creamy, whilst still having that demi-matte finish.

A finish of which lasts all day - well tested in the sun and late-twenties heat the other day!

(I'm wearing shade 23, a tad too light for me.)

It's a reasonably full coverage, especially in comparison to the barely there bases I'm loving of late, but build it up or sheer it out as you please.

There are a few more items to the Soo Boo Ji line - a toner, moisturiser and primer to prep the skin, and a liquid 'water foundation' if cushions aren't your bag.

I'd love to hear if you've tried Soo Boo Ji skincare, and your thoughts on looking after combination skin!
