W O R T H Y   W I N N E R S

It's been over a year since I last indulged in enabling some pricey purchases ;)

But in all seriousness, it can be utterly frustrating to feel as if you're wasting your hard-earned dollar on a high-ticket item that just doesn't deliver, so I'm here to help you with those struggles today, by sharing a handful products that I wholeheartedly believe are worth every penny.

(I still stand by my original list of worthy splurges btw, in case you're feeling extra flush!)

LA MER FOUNDATION (UK | US)

I'm so sorry to have to recommend this to you. I thought Tom Ford was as high as I was going to go with foundations, but I suppose the moment I caved into La Mer was always on the horizon..

I find their foundation truly exquisite though, and if you can afford the outlay, you can be sure not to be disappointed. I'll perhaps share some more affordable alternatives after this period of gleeful and riotous spending, where I think we should all take the opportunity to treat ourselves as well as others :) (and you can see how it looks on my skin here.)

VERSO (UK | US)

Everything I've tried from Verso, I love. They've a very small, concise range of retinoid products that are my 'everyday wonders' - the steady workhorses in a collection that you don't feel like you miss until you stop using them. Their slightly-foaming cleanser is my go-to second cleanse at the mo and I've been a lover of their Day and Night creams for quite some time.

A really gentle retinoid, these would make a great option for those with sensitive skins.

SURRATT POWDERS (UK | US)

If ever you're after some of the smoothest, silkiest powders around, look no further than Surratt cheek products. I've several of their blushes in particular and they blend so wonderfully. I think there are over 20 cheek shades to choose from, and although my collection is slowly growing, it never seems enough!

AERIN LIPPIES (UK | US)

A classic lipstick formula. Creamy, pigmented, non-drying, and the shade selection is really quite dreamy. I recently showcased the burgundy shade as part of my autumnal, berry makeup, but I would happily interchange (not to mention repurchase) any of the five shades I own on any given day.

TOM FORD GIRLS (UK | US)

I'm adding this one a little tentatively because I do despise paying almost £30 for what feels remarkably alike a matchstick of lip colour, but I must say the recently launched Girls have impressed me enough to add them to this list, albeit with a caveat - or at least an understanding of what we're letting ourselves in for here ;)

There are two different formulas available, the more pigmented, and the more glossy/sheer, and plenty of colours to be had, especially a worthy selection of 'peachy pink nudes' which is what I'm favouring at the moment. The white and gold packaging on these seems even more luxurious than the standard dark tones, and I think a love of the aesthetic plays a big part in the value of these lippies if you're trying to justify the price!

DCL 'A CREAM' (UK | US)

I recently tried out this retinoid moisturiser c/o Cult Beauty, and it's impressed to the point of becoming my daily morning moisturiser.

Retinoids, and the somewhat complicated area that they cover, are one of the very few ingredients with a decent scientific backing, and in my eyes, often worth the expenditure. This particular one includes an SPF 30, perfect for everyday wear, and has a lovely, creamy texture that settles to a natural skin finish. I've tried layering it, wearing it alone, and there's no circumstance in which I don't love how it applies and wears.

OMOROVICZA REFINING FACIAL POLISH (UK | US)

I recently rediscovered this mask/exfoliant after misplacing it and I'm re-establishing our relationship.

A mixture of their 'magic mud', algae and acids, I swipe on a satisfyingly smooth layer and leave on for 5 minutes, before washing off and following up with something soothing and hydrating like this.

With some products, the wonderment wears off the more you use it (dimishing returns), but not this fellow - it leaves my skin fresh, cleansed and reinvigorated every time.

VERNON FRANCOIS DAZZLING SPRITZ (UK | US)

The icing on the cake when it comes to shiny hair, is a mica-based shine spray, like this teeny bottle (at £16 this isn't expensive, but you might be surprised at the size of the bottle.. ). Give it a shake to unleash a flurry of exquisite rose gold shimmer, which settles, imperceptibly, on the hair to give it shine and gloss. Particularly gorgeous on the brunette among us.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY PALETTE (UK | US)

These delightful palettes are a traveller's best friend. With cheek and eye shades, each smooth, creamy and blendable, you're well on your way to a full face, with a palette smaller than a CD case.

BLOSSOM JEJU CAMELLIA SOOMBI OIL (UK | US)

There's nothing more to say about this facial oil, c/o Skinsider, other than I love everything about it. Funny that it's in a very similar bottle to my beloved Banila Co because my skin just loves both products - and in fact I layer them when my skin is feeling particularly parched. Full of camellia oil, this one's really worth a look.

ORIBE (UK | US)

All Oribe products, bar perhaps their glaze, have impressed me, if not only for their intoxicatingly fruity scent that'll put that 'Oribe-swish' into anyone's hair. I've mentioned their Supershine cream in a number of posts here on BTB and it's a particular favourite. And whilst there are several 'dupes' for their coveted Dry Texturising Spray, I always return to the original.

SUNDAY RILEY GOOD GENES (UK | US)

Having tried several items from the brand, I must be honest and say that not all of Sunday Riley's range lives up to the hype - or arguably over-hype?! Their Good Genes lactic acid treatment, however, is one I love. It's pretty tough-going stuff and may be a bit much for very sensitive skins, but a smidge on areas like my forehead really helps to clarify, resurface and slow down the formation of lines.

SHU UEMURA SHUSU SLEEK (UK | US)

I feel I ought to have added this particular mask into my recent luxury haircare favourites, because I love and regularly use the Shusu Sleek range, and in particular, this slightly peculiarly scented mask. Black cumin oil, the source of the heady scent, conditions my hair in such a way, that even F notices it's condition after I've used the mask - and if it gets this kind of blind approval from Mr BTB, then that's all the recommendation anyone needs! ;)

DR PERRICONE NO LIPSTICK LIPSTICK (UK | US)

I know it may not seem like anything more than a luxurious lipbalm, but the No-Lipstick Lipstick c/o Perricone is now a constant in my handbag. A solid-to-serum formula dispenses a silky, universally-flattering, rosy tint to the lips with SPF 15 to protect against the sun's UV rays, and neuropeptides, vitamins and oils condition and plump the lips.

I love applying this on top of a stain to add moisture to a long-lasting colour. An effortless way to bright lips.

MUFE SCULPTING PALETTE (UK | US)

If you're after a quality product, you'd not go far wrong with, the artist's favourite, Make Up For Ever. I've always found their colour products to be incredibly rich and pigmented, in particular their cream sculpting and camouflage palettes. The creams blend beautifully on the skin, even on top of powder, and I can get away with applying all of the cheek products with one Artis-like brush - the kind of effortless application that I seek out these days.

Well it's felt a little bit like 'beauty month' this month, I've clearly had a lot of makeup and skincare worth talking about! In case you've missed them, here are a few of the bigger beauty posts from November :)

It's incredibly late right now as I'm writing this up (so please forgive me for any stupid grammatical or formatting errors!), so I'm going to carry on the theme and catch some beauty sleep - hope you're all having the most wonderful weekend!
