Ooh look, another post featuring broderie.. am I getting predictable?! Don't worry though, I've got a bucket-load of photos of roses to share, so enjoy ;)

(If you didn't catch my recent post re. broderie then I'd recommend a look if you're after some inspo)

Sun hat (Etsy, alternative here)

Taupe mid heels (old from Whistles, similar here)

Anyway the reason for making a point about it in this post, is because I've found a source for really affordable broderie designs that are actually, perhaps even surprisingly, pretty good.

I own more expensive broderie pieces of course (Boden, La Redoute, H&M or Nordstrom/Shopbop are my favourite places to go) but if you're on a tight budget, just don't want to spend as much or are looking for a bargain, then I'd recommend having a peek at Shein. And before you roll your eyes (I've recently seen a number of pieces on Shein that are literally identical to those I've seen in Zara, so there's something for you..) and think I've turned to promoting fast and disposable fashion, I think Shein have improved their ways enormously, as long as you've the knack when shopping their site. My two recommendations are to check the measurements (because they're all there and pretty accurate) and to stick to pieces that are 100% cotton, because their polyester pieces can look frankly cheap.

They have many many broderie options but I've picked nine alternatives to the dress I'm wearing:

In case you're curious as to where we are in these photos..

If you're into your gardens at all and want inspiration/advice about roses then there's no better a place to visit than Mottisfont, Hampshire. I shared snaps from our visit last year but I of course couldn't pass on going again this year.

The walled garden is full, teeming, with the most beautiful varieties of old-fashioned, far-flung and ancient roses. If you're looking for your next variety to plant, after some special photographs (we saw a lady having photos taken with her newborn grandaughter - so sweet) or just want to wander through the gardens taking in the sights and scents, I'd recommend it to anyone.

This rose 'Pink Gruss an Aachen' might be my favourite - it's such a delicate ombre of peach through to palest pink.

Although the weather for the majority of our time there was perfectly warm and sunny, we did have a fleeting shower just before we left, and the little droplets of rain on the petals just made everything look all the more magical. Plus, petrichor. Always welcome.
