WEEKEND WEAR FOR THE CLASSIC DRESSER.

Whilst I do love my... 'less casual' outfits let's call them (like this one of a camel coat and woollen skirt, and I've become ever so fond of the pleated skirt) I can't deny that I'm a creature of comfort and love to sink back into my wardrobe of classic, comfortable staples on a weekend.

And by casual I don't necessarily mean slovenly (only sometimes ;), so today I'm sharing a few of my favourite pieces to wear on the weekend, in the hope of exhibiting the utmost of comfort, whilst looking somewhat put together. I hope you enjoy!

Outfit Details

Cream cable-knit jumper (currently on sale and almost sold out, v. similar here)

Tan loafers (my favourites)

OUTERWEAR

A waxed Barbour is a quintessential piece of my weekend wardrobe. They're perfect for country pursuits, walking in the woods, taking the dogs out, wearing with wellies like this outfit etc, just as much as they're transferable to the town, by adding a pair of loafers and a shirt.

It's far too cold for it now but ditto goes for the quilted gilet too. And trench coats. I'm a trench coat stockpiler.. They're so perfect for wearing with stripes as I have here.

TOPS

Could it even be a BTB style post without the mention of a breton tee? But they're a weekend wardrobe essential for me - heck, I have so many it's inevitable I reach for them on the regular. I like the Joules Harbour, Boden's bretons, Gant, Petit Bateau, Saint James etc.

And on the topic of mariners, the fisherman's jumper or cable-knit sweater is another favourite, they're undeniably cosy and comfortable. I like the 100% pima cotton kind.

And to layer underneath because Britain feels so frosty at the minute, I love a soft, well-loved and well-worn Oxford shirt, or a comfortable long sleeved tee with some sort of detail - maybe a scalloped edge like this one, or a peplum like here.

BOTTOMS

I just looked through my Instagram, and I don't think I'm wearing a pair of trousers for about 40 photos.. But especially when I'm mindlessly picking something comfortable to wear for the day, I choose a jean more often than not. Or a pair of buttery soft chinos. Or some striped pyjamas for wandering about the house!

SHOES

I'm actually on the hunt for a pair of uber comfortable trainer-esque shoes that don't repulse me.. I just can't really get into sports brand trainers or Converse etc. Maybe some plain Superga's are the way to go? But if you've any suggestions, I'm all of the ears.

In the meantime, I'm a serial loafer wearer. I've a worn, pair of driving penny loafers that I can't take off - I love the shape and style of them. Otherwise, and especially as the weather warms up, it's ballet flats for me, because heels have no place on the weekend ;)

LOUNGEWEAR

On the days I've absolutely no intention on leaving the house, I automatically gravitate towards something soft and sumptuous (elasticated waist mandatory). Loungewear is a really lovely area to invest in - spluring on something most people won't see makes it a special treat for you. For me that might mean a silk pj set, with a cashmere cardigan to keep warm, or a soft, comfy tee and some matching 'joggers'.
