THE PERFECT DRESS FOR AUTUMN(+ WHAT I WORE FOR MY BIRTHDAY IN PARIS).

I'm going to spoil things for you by telling you from the outset that I love this dress.

It's always a happy moment when you come across a number that fits you like a glove, is cut and styled perfectly for your body, and you can't wait to get out and wear it (and in a blogger's case, share all the photographs of you wearing it!) This polka-dot creation, is exactly that sort of dress. And I chose to wear it on my birthday in the fair city of Paris :)

Polka dot midi dress (also comes in a gorgeous green floral), Celine bag (more affordable alternative), Nude court shoes, Rose gold watch, Cameo necklace (vintage, bought in Paris, similar here), Hair bow, Russet lipstick (Birkin Brown).



I recently had the chance to pick out a couple of autumnal dresses from Joanie Clothing and the navy, pinafore from this post, and the Tiggy, a dainty, polka dot midi dress, were the two to catch my eye.

Stop me if I'm sounding overdramatic (it's only clothes), but I feel like the stars have aligned for me on this one!

The Tiggy is understated but not too simple. Not too showy and not too formal, because I personally can't abide feeling overdressed. The perfect autumnal dress. The long sleeves even keep you warm as you run alongside the Seine trying to catch the best view of the Eiffel Tower for when it sparkles on the hour! ;)

Wear as I have for a chic, Parisian (or otherwise!) dinner, or equally, with some loafers (these are my favourite) and a trench coat (like this one from this Paris post) for a day around town.

The wrap-styled front holds a larger chest like mine perfectly securely with no gaping and it has some gorgeous little details like the blouson sleeve coming down to a subtle little cuff. The polka dots are a delicate pink rather than being a stark white - small details but ones that denote a bit of thought and quality.

And in the eyes of a classic dresser, what more perfect accompaniments than a muted patent heel and one of the most understated designer bags going? ;) A quiet nod to my French surroundings.

Oh, and some macarons. The not so quiet nod!

We did a bit of a macaron-taste-test in Paris because Laduree and Pierre Herme are so closely located in Saint Germain, and I've got to say, whether or not that makes me some kind of heathen in the eyes of the French/a more refined palette, I prefer the former :)

Btw, my birthday was perfect.

We started off the day with breakfast at Laduree (because their French toast really is as good as everyone says it is), had a wander around my favourite areas of Paris (museums, patisseries, cafes, it's the lifestyle I love so much), before a lengthy dinner at Monsieur Bleu. I wasn't expecting it, but one of the best meals I've ever eaten. The chicken with morels was a pricey number but worth every penny - my increasingly particular palette couldn't fault a thing! We finished the night with a view of the Eiffel Tower as it glittered away and a walk along the Seine hand in hand.

I couldn't be more grateful to F for making it the most wonderful day :)
