Even though I've dipped into autumnal content (with a bit of an autumn wardrobe rehash, and I'm actually really excited about sharing all the upcoming autumnal posts I have planned!), I've one last hurrah from Provence. And I think I've saved the best for last :)
Gordes often gets all the recognition and coverage of being (west) Provence's most beautiful village - we went, and it is very beautiful (as was everywhere we visited frankly - Provence is stunning) but I wanted to share a couple of spots that F and I fell in love with, that don't get quite as much press.
Our visit to Ansouis was on a bit of a whim. We had a little gap in our schedule after visiting Moustiers-Sainte-Marie and spent a few minutes on our phones in the car, trying to find somewhere we could go that was roughly on the way to our next destination (dinner at Domaine de Fontenille). I hate to take the credit but... ;) So off we went on our merry way.
And it ended up being our favourite place of the entire trip.
A really sleepy, beautiful village, Ansouis sits on a little hill in the Luberon, north of Aix-en-Provence (and it's stunning markets).
Outfit details
Polka dot dress (sold out but similar here, another here and a more affordable option here), Nude ballet flats, Tortoiseshell sunglasses, Rose gold watch, Straw bag (from Provence, similar here), Red lippie (Red Carpet Red).
We made a slow meander up through it's windy streets, stopping awhile to admire the quaint, architectural details; French blue shutters, teeny, narrow passageways, pale golden stonework covered in leafy climbers.
We seemed to naturally gravitate towards the top of the village, atop which sits a 12th century chateau and the most beautiful view..
Another of Provence's villages that doesn't receive as much attention as it might deserve is Menerbes.
We spent a short and fleeting visit but it's a stunning spot. Again, delightfully quiet, quaint, lined with more plane trees whose leaves shimmered chartreuse in the evening rays.
Outfit details
White blazer, Breton tee, Navy culottes, Nude ballet flats, Tortoiseshell sunglasses, Rose gold watch, Lavender pouch.
Whilst in the role of makeup bag in this post, my Lavandou pouch from Elizabeth Scarlett made the perfect evening clutch here in Menerbes - I couldn't love it anymore!
It was just starting to chill ever so slightly, the perfect excuse to whip out a breton tee, white blazer and go the whole French-hog with my attire.
Provence is definitely one of the most beautiful places F and I have been - a real must for those that enjoy a slower pace of life, great food, sublime produce, and spectacular views. You can catch up with our entire journey here if you so wish :)
