Although Great Dixter comes a close second, I've visited no more magical a garden than the rose gardens at Mottisfont.

Among the deep, herbaceous borders filled with perennials, there are thousands of roses in the stunning walled garden.

And what with my gorgeous floral dress and actually bothering to curl my hair, I feel like as dainty as Julia of GMG!

I thought it only appropriate to grace this beautiful haven, with an equally beautiful (but inexpensive!) dress - I'll see you after the jumpbreak :)

Outfit details:

Floral button-down dress (UK | US), Nude block heels, Straw bag (UK | US), Gold coordinate bangle

I don't wear something quite so feminine and floaty on a regular basis, but I love this dress.

The most perfect, floral, button-down number with a perfectly placed v-neck, delicately sheer chiffon sleeves, and all for a steal under £50.

I've seen it worn with a black lace bra on show and some quite modernist shoes, and equally with pink-everything accessories, and it looks just as great with either accompaniment - the kind of dress that's as versatile as it is beautiful.

It's got such a gorgeous level of swish and float as you move.

Paired with the most classic of nude block heels and a round straw bag.

And of course this stunning backdrop!

Mottisfont is rather special for roses. With a vast collection of pre-1900, old-fashioned roses, some of which aren't found anywhere else and only flower once a year, it's a botanical marvel.

Beautiful Chinese roses in shades of the palest yellow to richest fuschia.

And these stunning Souvenir De La Malmaison bourbon roses with their fluffy, peony-like centres.

If you're going to go, June is absolutely the best time to see them in all their splendour. The gardens are open until 8pm up to the 23rd of June to escape most of the crowds, and I absolutely recommend a visit.
