Little Lokrum island is only a stone's throw from the Dubrovnik coastline.

In fact, you'll probably have spotted it in the photos from my last post up on the City Walls. Just wander through Old Town, to the harbour and hop onto a small boat for a short 15 minutes.
But pleasantly, it feels a world away. Whilst Old Town is a mass of tourists and shops, Lokrum is a peaceful spot of wilderness, uninhabited save the congregations of wild (but tame) peacocks and rabbits. And I loved it. It's atmospheric, beautiful, and the water is a spectacular shade of turquoise, yet crystal clear. If you're partial to moseying around and enjoy plenty of rest and relaxation then you can definitely spend the mostpart of a day here. We spent maybe around five hours, including dinner at the island's only restaurant, Lacroma - very good squid. Plenty of Prosek too, Croatian dessert wine - pretty good, although I still prefer Tokaji. And if you're thinking of heading to the fort, be warned that it's quite the incline. We're heading up the Dalmatian coast next, so I'll meet you back here in the near future for anther update on our travels!
