I can't believe we're almost done with May! I've spent an unwelcome proportion of it feeling unwell, especially with headaches, which certainly hasn't been making me happy, but here are 10 things that have :)

01. These Flowers. // There's nothing like a big bunch of blooms to lift the spirits is there? I love the zesty lime sprays and the frilly, peachy-pink petals of the lisianthus on this bunch.

02. Holiday Planning! // OK the secret's out! We've been planning a summer getaway at long last, and it's been an utter joy scrolling through posts, articles and photos online and thinking 'not long until we'll be there viewing it with our own eyes' and shopping for a holiday wardrobe - which I'll be sharing more of in a later post! And I'll let you know where too ;)

03. Our Budding Peonies. // We bought a couple of peony plants two years ago now and they've had a bit of a rocky journey in our garden, evidence indeed as they haven't yet flowered - until possibly now?! I've started to see tiny pink petals starting to unfurl on the few buds our little plants are bearing, so here's hoping they'll be out in the next few weeks!

04. Sweet Treats. // I had a go at making both churros and macarons in the last few weeks, two of my favourite sweet snacks, and whether it was beginner's luck or just sheer brilliance ;) but they both turned out so perfectly, I couldn't have hoped for better. I'm definitely going to be working on the macaron recipe and tweaking flavours - let me know if you'd like a post in the future!

05. Spring/Summer Showers. // There's something about warm, temperate showers that makes me so happy around this time of year. My desk is perpendicular to the window and the petrichor when it's open is intoxicating. (Funnily enough there's an Einaudi number called Petrichor, and he always makes me happy too :)

06. Design Update. // I'm giving BTB a little makeover and it's been so lovely to sit and think about the new design elements I want, and how I want everything to look. I spoke about losing motivation and inspiration with blogging here, and how I thought part of that was the disparity between myself and the direction in which I thought my blog was heading. I'm not doing a big change by any means but even just tweaking the smallest of things is bringing my blog and I closer together.

07. Food Photography. // I have been loving photographing food lately. This beetroot tart in particular was a joy to shoot.

08. My Minimalist Skin Routine. // I felt like my skin was playing up a little recently so I decided to strip back my routine to Simple's micellar water (which I actually think is great), a vitamin C serum, The Ordinary's glycolic toner and Embryolisse, and my skin is currently in such lovely condition - I really think it's benefitted from a break from my extensive collection!

09. Home Country Day Trips. // Sunshine and riverside walks and ice cream and bumble bees. We've been spending a fair few days just having lovely, lazy days out, in Henley, in the university botanic gardens and nattering about utter nonsense.

10. Bloggers. // I'm rather enjoying this little segment at the end of 10 Things. I love coming across new or inspirational reads and hearing your recommendations - so please do leave your favourites below! For this edition, it's been all about recipe posts, specifically sweet ones ;). These delicious (and healthy) lemon bars and this pistachio, lime and courgette cake in particular caught my fancy.

I'd love to know, what's made you happy recently?
