I thought my first style post just had to be about one of the items of clothing that is practically uniform for me - and that's a long-sleeved Breton.

It's that perfect balance between feeling comfortable and looking put together, one that's effortlessly chic and perfect for any occasion, can be dressed up or down and I think just suits my lifestyle.

Not all bretons, however, are made equal. I kid you not, I currently own about 14 variations? (and that's post wardrobe clear-out..) so I feel like I've tried them all, and it's one particular brand that's forged it's way to the top for me - and that's Joules. To be fair, I'm a fan of just about everything they do. They're a wonderfully British brand like Boden, and their long-sleeved Harbour style in particular is everything I could ask for. Thick, Mariner's grade, superior cotton, a slightly cuffed sleeve length and a gently curved hem, it's the best of Breton.

Other than the, of course, obligatory navy and white stripe, you can pick up a multitude of prints and colours in the same style and fit, which I think is just so lovely, especially to brighten up your Spring wardrobe with a splash of florals.

This 'Clematis' number really grabbed my attention. I love the mix of striping at the top, with the cascading blooms, it makes me feel sunnier just to look at it! (and the print goes all the way round the back and arms too, just a little detail I appreciate).

And whilst we're here, can I just talk about one of my new, favourite spots? If you're ever in Henley, you just must pop into Spoon, a quaint little pitstop next to the wonderfully bonkers antiques place (you'll know the one if you're familiar with the area!). F and I stopped by for a quick tea + cake session the other day and the food is pretty delicious. Well, I say tea but I went for the blended berry and mint cooler and F had his signature cappucino. I'm not a big coffee drinker myself (although I do like the smell of good stuff), but I like to take a sip of his wherever we go and rank them and feel like I know what I'm talking about ;)

So accompany the tea, we shared a slice of apple and olive oil cake, one so good that I'm definitely going to try and hash together a recipe for it in the near future. I'm always 'that' person who watches as food for another table arrives and wishes I'd ordered the same thing. Case in point when brunch appeared for the adjacent couple - I think I'll definitely have to be making a return trip to sample it now.

After a little walk through Henley (another of my spiritual homes), we had a little stop by the riverside, partly an excuse for me to go and cuddle a big, gorgeous golden retriever and a chubby little corgi.. And I'll stop with the rambling for today! Whatever you're up to today, have a gorgeous one :)
