A good skin and hair day is a surefire way to make me feel better about myself, and I'm sure I speak for most all of us! Grow Gorgeous focus on giving us products that promote hair growth and health aswell as making it look shiny and lustrous - everything I've wanted since my tussles with Telogen Effluvium. Today I'm talking about their Hair Growth Serum and new Strengthening Oil, available here at Grow Gorgeous, and at Boots, Look Fantastic and Amazon - so read on for my thoughts!

Whilst I've tried a lot of oils, some specially formulated for hair, and others not, I haven't yet found one that I'm entirely happy with. Most neat oils like olive oil or avocado are a little too heavy for my fine strands, weighing down my natural waves, and leave the ends of my hair feeling a little grubby or oily. Others (coconut oil) have scents that I find too overwhelming for constant use, don't contain enough of the active ingredients (Moroccan Oil), or are so 'dry' that they do nothing for my hair - finding the balance is a struggle!

Formulated with a multitude of oils, mostly Amazonian Sacha Inchi and chia, the Strengthening Oil is designed to revive dry and brittle hair that's been impaired by sun or pollution damage, brushing and enviromental aggravators, whilst remaining lightweight. High levels of omega 3, antioxidants and vitamins nourish the hair fibres and provide a film around them to reduce protein loss.

Whilst perhaps going into my trials with some reservations, I'm happily surprised with how much I like this oil - it's really lightweight and thinned out. The bottle initially looks small but just a few drops is all you need, depending on the length and thickness of your locks, to add some shine. I apply around 5 drops which spread easily over my palms so that I can distribute the oily easily on the lengths and ends of dry hair. And I'm not a believer in oils that suggest you use them after blow drying - anyone can add shine to the hair by forcing the cuticle flat with heat. This oil gives me shine and lustre on air dried hair (the photo above is air-dried hair and for me, it looking like that without heat is pretty excellent!), making it feel and look a lot smoother and sleeker, and is lightweight enough to use daily on my fine strands. I'm thoroughly impressed, and I definitely recommend using a wooden pin brush like this one to distribute the oil evenly through your hair - I adore mine.

In short, this serum is designed to increase not only the length of your hair, but how many hairs you have on your head. In terms of explanation of the product, Grow Gorgeous go into a nice level of detail on the technicalities and timescales - which I think is really useful, because they are questions we as prospective users are bound to ask:

'Made with a 21.5% active complex that combines seven different technologies, the hair density serum contains an 8% Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 and Clover Flower Extract Active Complex which works within eight days to improve visible hair length, whilst increasing hair density by 13% over the course of four months.

Infused with hyaluronic acid to moisturise your scalp, it also contains an 8% Bio-Active Pea Sprout Complex and a 5% Bio-Active Complex of Chinese Skullcap, Soy Sprout and Wheat Sprout, helping to activate and diligently improve hair density.'

I've been using this for a few weeks now, albeit not quite every day as the instructions suggest - I covet freshly washed Day 1 hair and like to keep it product free and swishy at least for a day. I take 15 drops and give myself a good scalp massage with it - the serum is really lightweight and although it initially feels like my roots are going to get greasy, it sinks in pretty well, especially overnight which is why I apply it in the evenings. I'm not entirely sure what 'improving visible hair length' is - is my hair supposed to look longer but not be longer? I can't say I've yet noticed a difference in my hair length that's above and beyond it's normal growth but I have noticed that I get a lot less fallout. It was only about a week in that I realised - less hair in the shower, less hair in my hair brushes, less hair sticking to the carpets and being a bitch to hoover out.

Overall, I'm giving the oil a big thumbs up and am excited to keep using the serum - I'll probably do an update once I've used up the bottle. A big thank you to Grow Gorgeous for allowing me to try these pieces.

Have you tried either of these? I'd love to hear your experiences!
