A short walk from Piccadilly, is a cute little courtyard, hidden in plain sight from the tourists crowding around Eros and The Curve.

Ham Yard is a gorgeously eclectic hotel in Soho where, aside from beautifully decorated bedrooms (The Terrace Suite *swoon*), you can get a pretty stonking afternoon tea for virtually tuppence. We popped in for a spontaneous post-birthday treat.

There's lots to look at before you've even reached the dining room. So prettyyy, texture, fabrics draping the walls, art work, and pretty, pretty details. Warm. Colourful. Inviting.

Afternoon tea is 20 of your good English pounds a head and we got some extras of the 'bar menu' (between £5-£10), mainly because I couldn't resist.

Savouries; Goats cheese and harissa toastie, kedgeree scotch egg and arancini with pineapple salsa, chorizo sausage roll bites, finger sandwiches and duck gyozas. Sweet; raspberry eclairs, a jaffa pot, sticky, delectable parkin and the best macarons I've tasted this year. And not forgetting the obligatory scones with clotted cream and jams. And proper tea to top it off.

Our waitress was particularly friendly and attentive so extra house points to her, and after she'd asked if we were there for any special occasion, arrived with a plateful of goodies on a decorated, birthday plate!
