Hair Journey: Maple Holistics

I've been borderline obsessive about my hair for some time, especially since I was diagnosed with Telogen Effluvium and lost a great deal of it. If you've been keeping up with my Hair Journey, you'll know I'm experimenting in all kinds of sub-areas in order to find solutions that work; you can find my posts so far below:

The newest products in my artillery are from a US brand, Maple Holistics, whose focus are to provide natural, holistic, premium products to enhance health, hygiene and daily living. I'm all about natural shampoos and conditioners so when offered the chance to try a couple of their products, simply couldn't turn it down!

Argan Shampoo

First up, the Argan Shampoo. (I'm an undercover nerd so I'm going to get all science-y on you here.) Sulphate-free, this shampoo's main cleanser is Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI), an extremely mild surfactant derived from coconut oil. Whilst all surfactants are irritants, SCI is super gentle yet has great efficacy as a cleanser. It also foams up nicely like a 'traditional' shampoo in both soft and hard waters. The shampoo, to me, smells pretty akin to Werthers Originals, which I'm not upset about, and has 6 different natural oils to replenish your hair and stop it feeling 'stripped'.

Silk 18 Conditioner

The Silk 18 conditioner is probably my favourite of the two. It's a nice, light-but-substantial conditioner with a nutty, vanilla scent. Containing 18 silk amino acids as well as phytokeratin and panthenol, I do feel this fortifies my hair without weighing it down. Filled with Aloe too, it's very hydrating; I noticed straight away after the first use that it did a far better job of detangling my hair than I can usually achieve. Paring this with my DIY Detangling job has been my dream combo.

Ps the brush in the photo is fantastic, wooden/rounded pins are great for healthy hair! You can find it here.
