Berry Picking, Berkshire

13 July 2015 2 comments

On a hot, summery day, what better a pursuit than to get out into the country, surrounding yourself with lush greenery and get sticky fingers in strawberry fields!

We drove to Gray's PYO farm (windows alllll the way down of course) in Wokingham with greedy grins, in search of filling our little punnets with fat, juicy berries. We were certainly not disappointed.

Holy moley the strawberries taste divine! They were deliciously warm from basking in the sun, I could barely contain the juice taking a bite!

Time for a break from our 'arduous toil' and a healthy, mini picnic containing the fruits of our labour, quite literally! With gorgeous, sticky date cake, whose recipe might just be making it's way onto Barely There Beauty. And ps, it's totally healthy, although you'd never know.

Bellies full, it's off to The Savill Garden. If you're a lover of gardens, pretty things, nature, roses?! you have to go. The gardens are quite literally abundant with roses in the summer, the aroma is just heavenly.

Blue & White Kimono (similar and also similar!)  // Sunhat

Flip flops (similar) // Sunnies

Stroll around, take in the fresh air, flora and fauna, and make acquaintances with the ducks, they're super friendly!

Dinnertime.

The Windmill in Windlesham. A gorgeous little gastropub that serves homely, fresh, well-cooked food. We got fish and chips (couldn't resist it) and it was pretty sublime, fantastic twice cooked chips.

If you're in the area, get down to the joints ASAP and enjoy the sunshine!
