My Go-To Beauty Bargain

Everybody is on the hunt for that elusive, miracle beauty product.

Although I haven't come yet come across it, this less-than-£10 jar of natural, untainted magic is the best beauty secret I've managed not to keep...

I've been using unrefined, virgin, organic coconut oil for around a year in many different ways; it's definitely the most multi-purpose beauty product I can think of and works exceptionally in all the areas I've tried it.

Uses, Benefits and How I Use It

Hair mask: Coconut oil is glorious for your hair. I sweep it onto my mid-lengths and ends and leave it from anything between 30 minutes and overnight before washing it out. The results? Lustrous, "touchably soft" hair that L'Oreal adverts speak of. And no chemicals; 100% natural and good for you.

Scalp mask: It might seem counterintuitive to rub oil into your scalp but coconut oil makes for an amazing scalp treatment and encourages healthy hair growth. I massage it in when my scalp is feeling dry and irksome and it works wonders.

Moisturiser: This is my latest favourite. After a relaxing, hot bath, I use coconut oil as a body moisturiser and it keeps my skin so plump and baby soft. It's less viscous than other oils so absorbs readily. If you've got dry or troublesome patches, coconut oil really moisturises and soothes.

Makeup remover: If you've heard about using olive oil to remove mascara, it's the same principle. I often wear devilishly stubborn waterproof mascara and a sweep of coconut oil melts it clean away with no irritation to the eye.

Diet: It's an amazing oil to cook with and eat raw. The high smoke point means it's much more stable for cooking at high temperatures, and therefore better for your body. You can use it for salad dressings, mixing into smoothies or just eat it off the spoon. It's a Miranda Kerr favourite and who wouldn't want to look like her?!
Healthy fats are an essential component of good skin, healthy brain function and, providing you're sensible with exercise and what you're eating, can go a long way to help you lose weight.

What I love most about it?

Not only is it one of the best things I've tried for my skin, hair, scalp etc, but it's 100% natural. I know I'm not smearing on cheap chemicals that might even exacerbate any problems!

It's a fail safe winner of the beauty world.
