L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology Review | First Glance

26 January 2014 11 comments

How excited am I about this.

L'Oreal have finally launched their 17-years-in-the-works hair thickening range. Their patented technology surrounds their wonder molecule Filloxane, said to penetrate deep into the hair, expanding each individual hair diameter for fuller, thicker hairs.

The best part about their claims and what intrigues me most are the words "cumulative effect". Filloxane remains inside the hair fibre for long lasting thickness and you can build on each use over a number of washes to create thicker hair each time.

I won't lie, I'm really excited.

The haircare range, priced akin to other Elvive haircare collections, consists of the L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo, Conditioner, Masque, Thickness Booster and Thickness Creation Double Serum. Bar the booster, I bought the whole lot, oops!

My first impressions are that I really like the packaging, it's not particularly chic or dressing-table-worthy but the colours work well together. If you're like me, ingredients in beauty products matter and the shampoo is SLS heavy, which I know I'm meant to be steering well clear of but I just couldn't resist. The conditioning products are cone heavy too so I've added photos of the ingredients for your perusal.

The ingredients were difficult to get a good photo of due to the big curve of the pot but feel free to message me if you'd like them!

I used to get a hair treatment at the salon called Fiberceutic (also by L'Oreal) and I can only pray that this is an equivalent 'at home version' of that treatment because it worked fantastically well on my hair.

This review is only but Part 1. Although I want to be a real eager beaver and jump into using the range, I wanted to do a proper test of the products, with proper before and after photos, so you (and myself!) can gauge whether it really lives up to it's claims, so keep your eyes peeled as I'll be uploading that very soon!

  1. Hairdressers always tell me that I have loads of's just that each strand is very fine, which is why I suffer from limp, flat and lifeless hair! I have tried everything to get volume and thickness but nothing lasts so I am praying that this new range is going to be as amazing at it claims! I can't wait for your follow up review!

    1. I think it'll be the haircare products of 2014 if it lives up to the claims! Post up very shortly! :) xx

  2. Looking forward to hearing how you get on with these. I was going to purchase three things from the Boots website (currently on 3 for £10), but decided against it when I looked at the ingredients of the thickness booster (not listed in your review). I googled some of the things in it and to be honest, I wasn't really sure how any of the ingredients were going to work, I think there was only around 8 things in it and most of them were silicones or moisture boosting ingredients.
Your before and after photos may end up persuading me though!

    1. That's the only product I didn't buy! To be honest, I'm not overly pleased with some of the ingredients in the range but I'm intrigued to see whether it lives up to the claims! Post up very soon :) xx

  3. Wow! 17 years in the making! I certainly don't need any help in the hair thickening department, but its amazing that they now offer this! Great post.

    1. I'm sure many people will be envious of your lovely sounding hair! xx

  4. I nominated you for the Liebster award! :) Check out my last blog post for your questions! Enjoy xx

  5. Brilliant post! I think I might treat my daughters Nan to this range! She's got really thin hair, and has been having HUGE issues with it since she started the menopause :(
I'm really really hoping that this range will work for her! To be honest I might even give it a try myself! I haven't got thin hair, but could do with some volume! I could REALLY of done with this product years ago when I used to have bleach blonde hair.It was SO thin back then! Mostly due to damage I think!

I really can't wait to read your follow up post! Im so glad I stumbled across your blog - Thank God for Google ;D

  6. Looking forward to your results. I've just purchased the 'Thickening Treatment Double Serum'. Although I'm curious why the spelling is different on the product (I'm in Australia). 'Fribralogy' as opposed to 'Fibrology', which is the spelling I'm seeing everywhere else on the internet.

  7. I have thin hair and i have just started using it and i must say i can feel the difference not yet see the difference, probably after a few washes i will.

I love hearing from you, so do please leave your comments! xx
