Korean/Asian Skincare Haul: PART 1

22 October 2013 1 comment

So you may or may not have seen me tweet and instagram sneak peeks of this post but it's finally up! My lovely mother got me quite a lot of Korean/Asian skincare goodies for my birthday (in person from Korea and also ordered online via Yesstyle and Ebay) so time for a haullllll :)

Now to prevent this post from being epic-ly long I'm going to split this haul into 2 parts. Today's Part 1 contains Cleansers/Peeling Gels, Serums and Eye Products.

Part 2 will contain Sunscreens, Sheet Masks, Sleeping Packs and Miscellaneous items.

(I forewarn you this post is quite image heavy!)

Korean asian skincare haul beauty products review

Cleansers/Peeling Gels

Korean asian skincare haul Cure natural aqua gel review
Cure Natural Aqua Gel

The cult Japanese exfoliator/peeling gel. Peeling gels "ball up" as you massage them into the skin, lifting away dead skin. I had to try this as I am starting to resent abrasive exfoliators. Free from preservatives, parfums or alcohol, this product is supposed to be super gentle yet effective on the skin.

This is a cheaper alternative to the Cure Aqua Gel and something I thought I would try as a comparison, as the Cure version is relatively pricey.

I like to switch up my cleansers from nourishing, balmy cleansers to something a little more clarifying. For the latter category, I wanted a lemony cleanser to promote bright skin and this one took my fancy as it contains a lot of natural extracts. It hasn't actually arrived yet! hence the stock photo.

Eye products

I've heard that this is one of the few less expensive products that is able to actually lighten under eye circles with Arbutin! So I definitely couldn't pass on it as dark circles are one of my major skin concerns. Also when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find it contained 30g of products which is a lot for an eye cream!

Etude House Collagen Eye Patch

These are like the conventional sheet masks but only cover the under-eye area as opposed to the whole face. I'd never tried under-eye masks like this and wanted something to nourish the area under my eyes. The ingredients in these are super nourishing and are supposed to really help with dehydration. Dehydration can cause little fine lines to appear under the eyes but over-moisturising with heavy creams can cause milia (sigh - it's a minefield out there!) so hopefully these will be just right :) (Is it just me that thinks of Goldilocks and the porridge there?)

Serums/Essences

Laneige Water Bank Essence

I think I've mentioned in a previous post that I don't think dehydrated skin is well enough catered for in the Western drugstore skincare market. I therefore plumped for this Laneige serum as Laneige are pretty famous for their hydrating products. They are self-acclaimed "moisture specialists" and their website has a lot of scientific-sounding jargon basically saying "it's very hydrating" so I hold out high hopes :)

Korean asian skincare haul Innisfree Green tea seed serum
Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum

In my RMK sunscreen review, I mentioned the use of antioxidants in tandem with sunscreens to prevent sun damage. Green tea is an antioxidant that features in this serum (which you probably didn't need me to tell you as it's on the bottle!) and it's extract is the foremost ingredient! The only potential drawback is that green tea can irritate the skin? But i'm hoping that won't happen.. I shall let you know in due course!

Korean asian skincare haul skinfood platinum grape cell white essence
Skinfood Platinum Grape Cell White Essence

This serum supposedly brightens skin and lends to anti-ageing and hydration. It has extracts of Platinum, which sounds awfully fancy, and Grape (which is another antioxidant) and you probably know by now that I love serums. My mum got me this from Korea as the lady in the store recommended it for my skin!

Korean asian skincare haul skin79 white reviving solution
Skin79 White Reviving Skin Radiance Solution

This serum is supposed to brighten and even out skintone and claims to help create that clear, milky, translucent skin that is super popular in Asia! This is the other item that hasn't yet arrived, hence the stock photo. P.S you can't see from the photo that it does, but is it just me that loves serums that come with a glass pipette?!

And with that I bring Part 1 of this haul to an end. Hope you've enjoyed reading and look out for Part 2 "coming soon to a town near you!!". No but really, I'll be uploading it soon :)
