Sometimes, life's everyday struggles can leave you feeling low, lacklustre, and frankly, depressed - I know it can me - and the emotional effects can be ever so hardgoing on your wellbeing.

I've been trying to make a better effort to consciously embrace activities that improve my mood, rather than hoping I'll just feel better with time, and I'd love to share some ideas with you today - hope you enjoy!

I've always admired watercolour from afar, and F recently bought me a few watercolours and some good brushes and I've really loved having a little play with some drawings. It's the kind of activity I really want to immerse myself into, and even though my level of skill would leave most pretty wanting, I find that even mixing different shades, from peachy apricot hues to rich, wholesome earth tones, and colour swatching incredibly relaxing and satisfying.

Plants always have a way of inducing comfort and contentment for me. They had a prominent role in my childhood, from watching Mum tend to the garden, to one of family traditions of Sunday's out at a National Trust property. Now that we're heading towards Winter, the garden may seem relatively barren, but there's no reason for flora and fauna to give you any less joy. Indoor plants are the green solution for all climates, and suitable for everyone, from the very most houseplant beginner, to the decidedly green-thumbed.

I'm sure I can't be the only one to get somewhat sick of the internet from time to time. I love to embrace a slower style of life, and a, not necessarily frequent but, regular digital detox is often just the ticket to improve my mood and peace of mind. Whether it be just for the afternoon, or a planned, 'unplugged' weekend away, I guarantee a temporary separation will do you good ;)

I've read so many times, and even said myself, of the importance of making time for, and pampering, yourself. So much time is allocated to 'doing for others', that creating a little spot in your diary to be entirely selfish is a lovely, and simple, way to soothe your emotions (if it's been a taxing day!) and lift your spirits a little. Crack open all your best luxury products, hand all responsibilities over to your other half and enjoy! I've got a few of my own favourites that might take your fancy...

The most simple way to lift my mood, I've found, is to write down the good and the positive, what I'm thankful for, and what has made me happy recently. Not only does the act itself offer solace, but going back and taking a look through these lists puts a smile on my face, and that's why I utterly love my 10 Things series quite so much!

I'd love to hear your ideas on how you put bring happiness into your life, so feel free to spread some positivity around!
