W O R T H Y   W I N N E R S

It's been over a year since I last indulged in enabling some pricey purchases ;)

But in all seriousness, it can be utterly frustrating to feel as if you're wasting your hard-earned dollar on a high-ticket item that just doesn't deliver, so I'm here to help you with those struggles today, by sharing a handful products that I wholeheartedly believe are worth every penny.

(I still stand by my original list of worthy splurges btw, in case you're feeling extra flush!)

10 THINGS THAT'VE MADE ME HAPPY #8
+ BLACK FRIDAY SALES 2017.

one. // Bath. I recently took a trip to possibly my very favourite city in the country for some R&R. We had a lot of 'no-camera' time which was profoundly refreshing, but, I managed to sneak it out with me for a little while of lifestyle and OOTD shots ;)

two. // How spectacular beech trees are looking right now. Everyday their leaves become more rich and umber in colour. I love that as Autumn comes to an end, and other trees have been through their tonal metamorphosis, the beech give us a florid finale late into November.

three. // Getting into our evening routine of turning on the lamps, lighting candles and snuggling down to watch Masterchef: The Pros.

four. // Gill Meller's 'Gather' - such a gorgeous book.

five. // Hot chocolate and gluwein season. I had my first hot choc of this year the other day using F's 100% Ghanaian or Ecuadorian chocolate, which is completely unpalatable to eat, but delicious in my gingerbread hot chocolate.

six. // PR. I have had some really lovely PR parcels and conversations this month, so I'd like to just take a moment to say thank you to all of the lovely companies and contacts I've had interactions with, and for the wonderful items you've been kind enough to let me try!

seven. // Really impressive new beauty. Whether it's new to the market, or just new to you, does anyone just love finding new skincare and makeup that just really impresses beyond expectation? Rhetorical question I'm sure ;) The Blossom Jeju line that I'm now using everyday, the La Mer foundation that has just wowed me, and the Leighton Denny nails that are the cornerstone to my berry-toned, Autumn makeup. When you get to try and compare so much, standouts like these are all the merrier :)

eight. // Ginger tea. Fresh ginger always, dash of honey, biggest mug you can find - can't get enough of the stuff.

nine. // Bloggers. A new Insta account I'm following: @rachelaurynblog - such gorgeous, lifestyle and slow-living snaps.

ten. // Cyber Week shopping! I'm really making an effort not to go wild, but there are, nevertheless, a few deals that I just won't be able to deny myself.. In case you were in need of enabling, here are a handful that speak to me ;)

8 KOREAN SKINCARE ITEMS I ABSOLUTELY ADORE RIGHT NOW.

The perks, and simultaneously problems, with writing a blog, is that on a permanent basis, there's too much to try.

And Korean skincare is a case in point.

I've always had a love for the stuff (with my heritage, how could I not?), but it can very easily make it's way towards the back of the cabinet when other, new and shiny beauty items come along.

But in a way that's nice. It's like a little resurgence every time you re-find old favourites, or a new product truly impresses.

And the latter is exactly what I'm sharing with you today. If you follow my Instagram, then you're already a bit ahead of the game as I've given some of these delights a mention over there - so, without further waffling, let me welcome you to tuck into a little tasting menu of my current, very favourite, Korean skincare goodies.

FALL IN FIFTEEN // AUTUMNAL BERRY MAKEUP.

I've always found berry tones a little difficult.

And whilst my recent Autumn Beauty Favourites contained a fair few peachy-pink tones (arguably inspired by the fact I'd recently picked up TF's Zoe lipstick and couldn't put it down), I've finally found a matching berry nail-lip combo that is spurring some autumnal, and dare I say festive, spirit within me!

I'm frequently asked about the skin and eye products I use too, so today, I'm sharing my quick and easy, 15 minute, autumnal berry makeup, using some of my current favourites - hope you enjoy!

A WEEKEND IN BATH.

With it's honey-coloured Georgian architecture and speckling of independents, Bath is one of my favourite places, in fact quite possibly my all time favourite place, in our fair land.

F and I recently took a trip, for a couple of days of rest and recuperation.

5 SIMPLE WAYS TO BETTER YOUR MOOD.

Sometimes, life's everyday struggles can leave you feeling low, lacklustre, and frankly, depressed - I know it can me - and the emotional effects can be ever so hardgoing on your wellbeing.

I've been trying to make a better effort to consciously embrace activities that improve my mood, rather than hoping I'll just feel better with time, and I'd love to share some ideas with you today - hope you enjoy!

CURRENT LUXURY HAIRCARE FAVOURITES.

My hair's been through a lot over the last couple of years.

Due to my (ongoing..) dealings with Telogen Effluvium, I had around 18 months of 'heat free', and shunned the use of just about every hair product in my bathroom cabinet, in the hope that my hair would become more stable.

Now, I'm introducing the occasional hair tool, and I cherry pick the products in my routine. I've been enjoying trying more luxury haircare to give me the three cornerstones of all of my hair wishes; condition, volume and shine, so let me share some of my current favourites with you!

THE WINTER WRAP DRESS.

D R E S S I N G   D O W N

Wrap dresses are, in my eyes, one of the most versatile and universal dress shapes to flatter all. I picked up this flowery, flouncy (and distinctly summery..) number when the weather was a lot warmer, and it's one of those items that's become enveloped by my wardrobe, tags still remaining, to become forgotten about..

But all is not lost!

Darkening days and cooler temperatures does not mean your favourite skirt for sashaying need be confined to the back of the wardrobe. Wrap dresses are the perfect item for layering, and adding a feminine frill to otherwise cosy, masculine or country attire.

7 WAYS TO USE UP YOUR ALMOST-EMPTY JARS.

A R E   W E   S I T T I N G   C O M F O R T A B L Y ?

It's been a really busy week in Casa BTB. I feel like I've just had a lot going on lately - a lot to sort, a lot of errands to run, and a lot of organising to do.

F and I are planning another weekend away in Bath (our favourite 'together place', although heck, it's one of my all time favourite 'solo places' too) which I'm really looking forward to. We're staying at these gorgeous apartments this time and I'm currently trying to sift through a host of open tabs, searching out potential restaurant candidates..

I suppose the overriding question for me at the moment though, as far as this trip is concerned anyway, is whether or not I'm going to take my camera?

Part of me absolutely shuns the idea of leaving it behind, because I want to gleefully skip round Bath's stone streets and be incredibly snap-happy, because there's a lot to be snap-happy about in that city. But another part feels like maybe I should embrace some slow living and enjoy the moment, without analysing whether things are in frame or focus.. The jury's yet out..

F's little twin cousins have been invited to one of their friend's parties in a few days too and I (perhaps unwisely) offered to help out with some of the organisation (when I, also perhaps unwisely, let them facepaint me into a 'pretty clown'..) which includes getting some silly personalised t-shirts printed! (I recommend Printsome, if you're too in need of some quick t-shirt printing).

Otherwise, it's just a speight of renewing contracts or other means of 'adulting', which is just too dull to recite.

I've gone on a bit haven't I?

I just wanted to do a quick post today, inspired by something I saw in a Waitrose mag, on using up the last little scrapings of your jarred foodstuffs.

There's always that little smidge left isn't there? A little smidge that always seems to evade a knife or spoon being scraped round the sides, and consequently, delicious morsels of homemade jam or relish, or whatever else it is, goes to waste. So let me share with you, 7 ways to make the most of your almost-empty jars, and give them a second lease of life.

J A M

Fill your jar around halfway with plain or pouring yoghurt, pop on the lid and shake to combine. Enjoy on it's own as a snack, or atop some granola. Especially delicious with Bonne Maman's wild blueberry - a favourite in our household!

Add a little dribble of hot water from the kettle, shake, then drizzle over pancakes or waffles as a fruity sauce.

For a small jar of homemade jam, layer in yoghurt, biscuits or granola and sliced fruit for a healthy parfait.

P E A N U T   B U T T E R

Fill 1/4 of the jar with oats and top up with milk. Add some vanilla paste or cinnamon and give it a good stir. Leave in the fridge overnight for some delicious overnight oats the next morning.

M U S T A R D

When you're down to your last dregs of dijon or wholegrain mustard, add the juice of half a lemon, a squidge (1-2 tbsps) honey, a pinch of salt and pepper and around 8 tbsps of olive oil. Shake everything together for a delicious salad dressing.

Likewise, if you've finished up some jarred borettane onions, as often frequent our kitchen, then be sure to use the delicious, balsamic liquor in a similar fashion - it makes an amazing dressing.

M A Y O N N A I S E

I hate throwing out any scrap of homemade mayo, partly because it requires some effort to make, so just add chopped chicken, celery, apple, walnuts, and some salt and pepper for a quick take on a chicken waldorf. Delicious on a baked potato or atop some butter lettuce.

N U T E L L A

Fill 3/4 of the jar with hot milk and some ground ginger and (carefully) shake for an amazingly tasty, speedy take on my gingerbread hot chocolate. Here's my proper recipe if you want to go all out ;)

I would love to talk about honey, but every last drop gets used, swilled out with a drop of hot water, to soak my castella cakes ;)

I hope you've enjoyed today's babble and thrifty tips - it's hopefully going to be an outfit post on Sunday so I'll meet you back here for that, and hope you're all enjoying the wind down to the weekend :)

INNISFREE SMART DRAWING FOUNDATION, CONTOUR + BLUSH.

Boy has it been a while since I did a proper product review.

I've been using this new range of cream products from Innisfree for a little while now and I think they're worth sharing!

There are 18 colour products in the range; 4 colour correctors, 2 illuminators, 3 blushes, 3 contour shades and 6 foundations. All purport to have a satin finish, include some SPF and have rich, blendable pigment. I picked up the three shades that appealed most to me, so let me show you more....
