5 STYLE STAPLES TO GRACE MY AUTUMN WARDROBE.

11 October 2017 2 comments

WELL. Today, I've gone shopping, for both myself and you!

I've had a hankering to update my wardrobe for the increasingly chilly weather, and, effectively, revel in an excuse to buy myself a little hoard of new items. I mean, it is birthday month after all, and if a girl can't treat herself then, when can she? (let's all be honest with ourselves and mention that I've already started the treating process, and several of the items in today's post have already been purchased ;)

As I realised my shopping list is incredibly themed and autumnal, I thought I'd use it in a bid to inspire your wardrobe this October, so read on for my 5 staples to grace my autumn wardrobe this year - hope you enjoy!

I bought my first Barbour in college, many moons ago, and it's been with me through thick and thin. Incredibly durable and hardy, my waxed jackets withstand any weather, without feeling hefty or cumbersome, and for me, make for the perfect day coat.

If any colour in clothing described autumn in my eyes, it'd be a rich maroon or burgundy - every year, I loyally enslave myself to it. The second we left summer I whipped out my familiar friend in Dior's Skyline nail polish and felt an increasing comfort with every swipe ;) Burgundy, to me, flatters all, from the palest of delicately pale, to deep skins, from elegant and waif-like, to gorgeously plump and Rubenesque, and this year's offerings seem the best yet.

I would prefix this one with something along the lines of 'I hate to be predictable..', but that would be an outright lie because when regarding stripes, I relish in my predictability! My breton collection is ever growing and I've recently added another two of Joules' accented versions - one with sweet little radishes dotted merrily among the stripes, and the other, a hunter green and floral artichoke example (the one in the photos) - both beautiful.

I don't think I'm a bag hoarder, mostly relying upon my trusty and dependable Mulberry Bayswater, and Longchamp Le Pliage tote, but this year, I've a yearning for a good quality satchel or cross-body, which isn't your YSL or Gucci or whatever is the Instagram trend of the moment! I actually think that Etsy sell some fabulous leather (none of this 'vegan leather' aka plastic nonsense) bags, in my favourite, rich, cinnamon-like brown.

Not strictly wardrobe, but a little bonus number for all you beauty addicts out there, there are a few things on my radar, even though I've made a notable cutback to the amount of beauty I now purchase (favouring homeware or dinners out, or holidays..). The new Hourglass palette doesn't beguile me, nor do I feel myself excited by the new Charlotte Tilbury eye palette. And not even the latest drop of VB X EL collection tickled my fancies! The new TF Girls however.. I need no more lipsticks in my life and yet I found myself hopping onto Net A Porter and purchasing one. It's a hard life ;)

As much as I like to try and be spontaneous with Barely There Beauty, I'm trying to get myself organised and schedule a couple of posts because October is going to be a busy one! Friday's post is going to be another breakfast 'recipe' though - can't wait to share it with you! In the meantime, I'd love to hear, what are your favourite autumnal pieces?
