There's a lot to love about Split. The old architecture of Dioceltian's Palace, the colour of the ocean by Riva Harbour, the winding, stone streets, with eateries at every turn, and the view at the top of Marjan Hill.

We stayed in Split as a stopping off point for some island hopping and driving around, but it's got some little gems of it's own - Uje being one of them. We pit-stopped in this gorgeous little cafe for a fresh and local lunch of cold meats, Croatian cheeses, homemade relishes and marinated fish, and to savour their concise but considered list of Croatian wines - more Prosek yay!

Down by Riva Harbour (we snuck further round to the right, to avoid the swarms of 20-odd-year-old gap-year backpackers..) the colour of the water is sublime. And can we just give a quick mention to my incredibly cute and affordable beaded sandals? Less than £20 from Matalan of all places!

I really nailed my makeup (with regards to staying power) today - points if you noticed my face melting off in my Dubrovnik posts! This Bare Minerals base is marketed as some kind of cure for oily or acne prone skin but it's perfect for a much broader demographic than that. With a good primer and plenty of sunscreen (I've popped them, and the rest of my makeup, in the widget below for you), my base lasted so well in the heat!

Fueled by my addiction of seeing cities from above, one of my favourite moments from Split was the climb up Marjan Hill. It's really quite a leisurely walk, regardless of the two available routes you take. And isn't it quite the sight to behold? I get a sense of calm and relief seeing a view like this. Head up first thing, or close to sunset to see the city glow.
