We decided to shun all alternative methods of transport and drive from Dubrovnik to Split via the coastal road.

It takes a good four or so hours, giving us the perfect excuse to stop off along the way and explore more of this beautiful coastline - although I managed to persuade F to stop off at Gruz harbour again before we set off ;) West of Old Town, the harbour is much more quiet, but still with beautiful views - especially so in the evenings where it looks just like a watercolour, #nofilterneeded, heck, no editing needed! We had Croatian pastries for breakfast - mine an apple burek which is rather like a spiral strudel, delicious and buttery. Back on the road, the sea is quite literally alongside you for the entirety of the journey. My favourite stop off point was the sleepy little town of Makarska. We were met with a flower and fruit market, which immediately sealed the deal for me ;) I love visiting markets when abroad - freshly cut blooms, rows of lush, green house plants, fabrics and native trinkets, and tables groaning under the weight of ripened fruit. The centre of town, and all the windy streets off it, are gorgeous and quaint, although I warn you that the main beach is a bit of a tourist trap and immediately loses the charm of the rest of the town - and starts turning a bit 'Costa del Croatia'. We walked further round to a quiet spot on the beachfront to dip our toes :) It's to Split next, so I hope you pop back soon to see more of my Croatian photo diary!
