Last weekend, I was invited to what turned out to be a really beautiful day in London, c/o Disney and MAC Cosmetics, and I'd just love to share it with you! (And for the beauty obsessed, hold on until the end to see what's in the goody bag we received ;)

Early mornings and I don't generally mix, but after some fuffling around at Reading station trying to sort out tickets and whatnot, I arrived at the Prince Edward Theatre with about 20 seconds to spare.

Onto the stage and we were met with a sea of bodies and lenses. MAC and Disney had set up a beautiful circle of makeup artistry, showcasing 4 looks from the musicals Aladdin and The Lion King, and 4 'inspired by' counterparts. We had a little rustle around and had a chance to speak to the artists, and the actors and actresses, about the looks they were creating, and ask questions to our hearts content. I don't know about you, but I really get inspired by watching people who are spectacularly talented at applying makeup.

I thought this gorgeous girl from Aladdin was particularly stunning - I mean, would you just look at her skin? ??? applied a generous amount of lipbalm to her lips, before dabbing in MAC's Party Line, a bordeaux hue in the tube, to create this exceptionally perfect rosy pink lip - completely a trick I'll be stealing for my everyday lip look.

Meanwhile, over in Genie corner, it was all brights, glitter and jewel tones (Mr Genie gets glitter poured on his head for every show ;), caramel hues for Nala from The Lion King, and striking primaries for Rafiki.

After a quick brunch break and reconvene, it was off to Polpo for some rest, recooperation and consumate refueling ;) Being the foodie I am, I of course took plenty of photos...

Look at us hungry bunch of grumps before food arrived!

Frito Misto for the first course (not to my personal liking), followed by pizza after pizza after pizza after pizza..! Marinara, wild mushroom and tallegio, jalepeno and jamon, with prosecco on tap.

Next came the mains, a myriad of delicious salads (including panzanella, one of my favourite dishes), and giant meatballs in a deliciously sweet, tomato sauce.

Dessert came in the form of tiramisu pots, with second or third (or fourth..) helpings if you wanted them - thank you Polpo for feeding us with your tasty fare.

With bellies full, we tottered off to the final part of the event - to see one of the musicals! I've never seen the Lion King before so was completely ecstatic for the chance to go. What with the strictness on photographic equipment (the ushers shine lights at you to deter the use, which I found rather comical), there's a lack of photos for this part but we had lovely seats in the middle of the Royal Circle, and the show was as spectacular and reminiscent and vibrant and beautiful as I'd hoped for.

I must say after all that excitement, I was rather peckish, so F and I walked over to Wahaca, Soho, a familiar but favourite pitstop of ours. If you've ever been yourselves, you'll probably agree it's nothing special, but I was really craving churros, especially as we can't get anything decent back in Surrey. (That's in fact now changed, as you might have seen from my Instagram stories, as I tried making my own for the first time the other day and they came out superbly! I'm so pleased with myself ;) - I ate about 12 in a sitting!) A nice, refreshing apple juice, and double portions of their chips and salsa (delicious), with some mexican fare in the middle, and ending off with churros and salted dulce de leche. Raphael, the waiter, was delightful by the way, if you ever have the good fortune to meet him.

We then (because why have one dessert when you can have two) popped a few doors down to get honeycomb gelato at Snowflake. I don't generally like ice cream but this was divine - so milky creamy without the richness of eggs.

And it must be said, that after dessert #2, I turned off the camera and just enjoyed pottering around London with F, one of my favourite past times :)

I promised a little look at the makeup we were kindly given so here it is! Party Line is gorgeous.

A huge thank you to Disney, The Lion King @ The Lyceum, MAC Cosmetics, and the PR lovelies Lawrence, Maisie and everyone else involved for putting on such a lovely day!

  3. It was such a lovely day! I've been reliving it through editing my vlog and I couldn't stop gushing about what a great day it was! It's so funny that you both went to Wahaca. We considered doing the same, but decided against it at the last minute! I might need your churros recipe next time I see you! xx
