I thought that as we've now hit March, it would be an apt time for this post. As cliche as it definitely sounds, I do always think of Spring as an opportunity for new beginnings, I mean, it's hard not to when you take a look around and see new life forming among every step. I also love to indulge in the tradition of the 'Spring Clean' - but it doesn't have to stop at giving your house a thorough dusting down, or treating your kitchen cupboards to a clearout. It can be immensely satisfying to adopt some spring cleaning to the rest of your life, so keep reading for another dip into wellbeing and happiness!

CLEAN UP YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

I never even used to contemplate being the initiator in ending friendships. Hands up if this sounds like you too? I do think it's interesting that in a romantic relationship, it's very much the norm to consider a one way break up. How often have we heard 'Oh, things just weren't working out so I ended it'. But this statement sounds so alien when considering friendships, in fact with any kind of relationship - but why should it be? Of course if you think it may just be a rough patch then it's worth talking things through, but if things appear to have reached a stalemate, you don't forsee a resolution, or they've just been getting you down for a while then it may well be worth cutting ties and focusing on those that do make you happy. And there's no shame in that.

REVISIT ONE OLD TALENT AND CREATE ONE NEW ONE

I feel that as we get older, our childhood fervor for hobbies, interests and new experiences is somewhat quashed by a growing list of obligations and chores. But it needn't be that way. Take Spring and it's new beginnings as an opportunity to revisit one talent or hobby that you used to relish but fell by the wayside, and to go and find one new one. Whether that might be learning to horseride, taking up baking or aerial yoga, re-embrace your interest in, well, interests.

STRAIGHTEN OUT YOUR FINANCES

A very well done to you if you're already the type of person that has their finances completely under control. I know I need a little help with my impulse buying - I'm a frivolous spender! Particularly on beauty products that I absolutely don't need, which is why I've shared some tips on cutting down on my beauty spend here if you fancy a read. If you're like me, then take the time to assess your spending situation and acknowledge areas that you'd like to make changes to - if it helps focus your mind, reallocate the money you save into a holiday fund, or something of the like, to reward yourself for your dogged willpower!

SETTLE YOUR MIND

As well as the physical elements in life, now is as good a time as any to focus on decluttering your mind. If you suffer with anxiety as I do, you'll know just how debilitating it is - that on top of having to deal with the usual everyday 9-5, you're fighting your mind. Try to get whatever help you can, whether that's from meditation, ASMR, yoga, exercise, counselling or just running a hot bath and having a lengthy soak, and build yourself a little routine or set of coping mechanisms for when your anxiety levels creep up and/or hit the fan. I've been embracing a slower lifestyle lately and focusing much more on small joys and changes and it's no end of comfort to me. Take a peek at my 15 Ways To Bring Happiness Into Your Everyday Life for some ideas on what I've been doing, and what could help you too.

SPRUCE UP YOUR DIET

Who else feels like eating more healthily as the weather warms up? When it's cold and wintery, I just want to banish any thought of salad, and tuck into something warm, comforting and naughty, but now that I finally feel like Spring is on it's way, I'm excited about fresh, seasonal produce and trying out some new recipes - maybe these delicious gluten-free cupcakes take you fancy? Try seeking out fresh inspiration (I adore this Pinterest board😍), cooking a recipe with an ingredient you've never tried before or doing some meal planning to get yourself out of that food rut. I love collecting cookery books too for inspiration and some bedtime reading - here are some faves!

CLEAR CLUTTER

This, I'm sure, is what we all think of at the mention of a 'spring clean'. Create a different feel to your space by rearranging the furniture, clear the kitchen cupboards of expired or junky foods, give away clothes you haven't worn for years to charity and give the house a deep clean and declutter from top to bottom. The proof of all this hard work is in how you feel. I love feeling like I've just created a new start for myself, when in fact very little has changed.

MAKEOVER YOUR APPEARANCE

Whilst winter might be all liquid liner and burgundy lips, I love transitioning into Spring makeup. A fresher base, a softer eye, lots of enlivening, pinky shades, it's the kind of makeup that is completely and utterly up my strasse. As the seasons are changing, it's a great opportunity to play around with a new look - and let that stretch to a new haircut too! If you're in need of ideas, then do feel free to check out my obnoxiously long Spring Favourites post!

GET RID OF PAPER

Paper. The number one clutter-er of my house. Junk mail, magazines, scraps of my own scribbles, jotted down recipes, notebooks, documents, receipts, it's everywhere! Sit down to your favourite programme (do you know what, I'm actually really enjoying the Big Painting Challenge as background TV atm?) and sort through your papery mountain, dividing into piles to throw and keep, consolidating like items and tearing out and filing useful magazine pages/excerpts.

PRODUCTIVITY

Make your life a little more productive by indulging in these little tasks:

- When you feel like you've got tons on your plate and you're feeling overwhelmed, make a 'master actions list' by writing down everything that needs to be done - no matter how small, how distant or imminent, really empty your mind. Once on paper, start grouping tasks by time, importance, difficulty etc. Then go about tackling each little task and tick off as you go along.

- Backwards schedule by writing a list of tasks you want completed by the end of the day. Within your overall time schedule, allocate each a slot, working backwards, to create a little schedule for yourself - and remember, always overestimate!

EVALUATE YOUR GOALS AND CORE VALUES

Whether or not you made new year's resolutions, take a moment to assess where you are in your life, and where you'd like to be - I talk about it, and some other similar wellness tips in this post if you fancy it! Have the steps you've been making worked? Are there things that need to change? Are your priorities different now? With a busy lifestyle, it's all too easy to get wrapped up in the day to day and lose the bigger picture, so stepping back for a moment and evaluating your longer term goals is a really beneficial pasttime to practice every now and then.

I hope you found some of these tips helpful, and do let me know if you're making any lifestyle changes this Spring :)
