Afternoon tea is a big deal in London. There's something about tiny food stacked up in silver towers that raises our mood levels, and it's always the perpetual dilemma of which of the hundreds in London to try next.

Tucked down a South Ken side street, Number Sixteen is quietly situated amidst the mid-Victorian, stucco terraces we bloggers adore.

Squirreled away at the back of the property, is the beautiful Orangery and private gardens - bright and airy, it's the perfect pitstop to grab a cup of something thirst-quenching during a heavy shopping trip, or indulge in the full tea like we did.

Freshly baked, warm scones, tucked up in their napkin duvet, with the obligatory cream and jam..

.. a medley of neatly cut sandwiches (the bitter chocolate rye bread was.. interesting) and chicken slider..

.. and topped with a deliciously milky pannacotta, lemon tartlet and floral cupcake, all washed down with fresh mint tea for me (although try their Jasmine pearls, delicious).

And some added bonuses to dining at these kind of lesser known jewels; time it right and you can get the dining room to yourself, and without the price premiums of your Ritz's and Sketch's. Now that's a top tip if ever I heard one - we bagged the lot for under £30 a head.
