It's been a while since we've done a more glamourous tutorial here on BTB (you know I'm a no-makeup-makeup lover) but I had a bit of an excuse to get a little dolled up the other night, with a few new evening-appropriate makeup items to try so thought, why not?

Rosie For Autograph Lipstick in Lady Rose £14 | You'll already know, from reading this post, that I'm a huge fan of this range, from the beautiful, simplistic packaging to the quality of the formulas. The lipsticks are deliciously creamy and buttery, gliding right on and giving strong pigment that lasts well. I wanted to keep the lip simple and neutral so plumped for Lady Rose. It's such a pretty darker nude shade, with a rosy-mauve undertone that's universally flattering for midtoned skins.

Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizer $26 | The summery weather is definitely calling for a stronger highlight so I'm layering a cream with powder to ensure a good glow. This liquid illumiser has a gorgeous, warm, golden base with small shimmer particles and I dab it fairly liberally onto my cheekbones and blend with fingers.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzing Powder £13 | I've had this bronzer for a good while and it's fool-proof-ness keeps it in and around my top drawer - even at it's lower pricepoint, it behaves like a high end product. Whether you go in for an all-over bronzing with a large, fluffy brush, or use a smaller tool to place product more specifically, the silky texture and considered pigmentation means you can't go wrong. I like to blend this into my crease slightly too to tie my cheeks in with my eyes.

Etude House Real Powder Cushion Foundation $30 | A new addition to my cushion collection, this took a little getting used to but has become a favourite. Cushions are all I reach for lately and to have something more long wearing with a matte finish in cushion format makes my day. The trick is here (if you have normal-combo skin like mine) is to work in incredibly light layers to stop it from looking cakey or overdone. I tap the product over my cheeks, to cancel out redness, and through the centre of my face, then blend out to nothing everywhere else. And no need to set with powder, the initially matte and powdery finish settles to demi-matte, natural-looking skin that still keeps oil at bay. A lot more photos and swatches for you in my full review.

Dior Nude Air Glow Powder in 004 £39 | I am utterly in love with this beautiful and unique (and I think limited edition?!) cheek product (you can read my full review, including the other shades, here). Whilst the other available shades are more of a bronzing product, 004 Warm Light is much more of a blush, and such a beautiful one at that. Just swirl the colours together for a gorgeous, multitonal pink with subtle shimmer and depth from the tan shades. This gives a lot of pigment so I've gone in with a really light hand for some subtle colour.

Stila Magnificant Metals Eyeshadow in Kitten £33.50 | Although I wouldn't recommend buying this at full price (wait for a sale or scour TKmaxx), I also can't deny how beautiful it is if you're wanting rose gold and some bling. It comes with mixing medium and palette so you can foil the shadow before applying to the eye. I like to use a flat brush and pat onto the eyelid. Stila's Kitten is perhaps my all time favourite shade - a universally flattering rosy-gold, champagne, I think I own it in 5 or 6 variations now?! I actually topped off the eye with a little dab of the Kiko Water Eyeshadow in 200 just to keep everything in place.

Tom Ford Correcting Pen in 01 Light £35 | From the Tom Ford Flawless Complexion range, I picked up the Correcting Pen, a handy little double-ended concealing wand. One end contains an angled stick of peachy-pink corrector, ideal for under the eyes, the other houses a super slim yellow-toned concealer for spot concealing or precise concealing work. In short, I really love this. It's painful to say (especially on my bank account) that I've fallen in love with another Tom Ford product but both products are pigmented but slick and the right amount of 'creamy' - and having them both in a compact pen is perfect for travel. The yellow-er side especially is lovely and convenient, I'll pinpoint conceal blemishes, highlight right under my brows, or line outside my lips when wanting a crisp red/vampy lip. I'll be doing another post taking a closer look at this so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Threads Lashes £9 | What is a glam look without lashes? I was kindly sent the Be-bop and Emiloo lashes from Threads, a UK brand of lash and brow product purveyors. Made of synthetic fibres, the lashes have a really nicely flexible band so application is easy - I've opted for Emiloo, the more dramatic of the two, for a full, fan of lashes. I think I could actually do with a little liner and some shadow under my eyes (what do you think?) but I wanted to keep the look really clean, and these lashes look so crisp and tidy without even using liner to hide the band. One thing I absolutely love about these lashes is the included glue - it's fantastic and they need to make a full size you can purchase separately! It's iridescent and pretty for a start and it seems to spread more evenly on the lash band, without any sparse or gloopy bits, and becomes tacky better than even my favourite Duo lash glue. This isn't a brand I've tried before and I'm altogether impressed.

Rosie For Autograph Highlighter in Rosebud £18 | I adore this highlighter. In loose powder form, it's so finely milled that it doesn't sit in or draw attention to my pores and the mix of champagne, white, golden and pink hues is spot on. I use my RT Tapered Blush brush, which is the perfect size for sweeping onto the cheekbones. Something else I love about this particular highlighter is how versatile it is; it's fine enough to use very lightly for a really subtle glow, or you can build for a stronger, bolder highlight. I love taking this into the inner corners of my eyes too, check out my full review for a closer look.
