Olay Regenerist Luminous Moisturiser Review

23 January 2015 1 comment

To the detriment of my bank balance, I am naturally drawn to high end skincare. This hasn't, however, quashed my efforts to find new wonders, pricey or not, which have brilliantly lead me to discover this fine gem.

Olay tend to be a brand I overlook, for reasons unknown, and I started off less than enthused about this product, especially as it's all parceled up so you can't try it (pet hate) but it ended up in my basket and I'm now pretty glad.

The box isn't particularly inspiring; some claims on one face, ingredients on another, but it's whats on the inside that counts! The moisturiser includes some lovely hydrating ingredients such as glycerin, niacinamide and aloe, melded with peptides and panthenol, however it does contain some parabens so if that's a deal breaker for you, be aware.

The jar itself is fairly attractive, I'm not personally keen on the uber-reflective plastic lid but there's something milky and opalescent about the container body that's almost quietly ethereal.

Upon lid-removal, you're presented with a nice plastic covering to keep the contents tidy, which is appreciated. And upon removal of said lid, reveals sumptuous peaks of peachy-pink moisturiser.

One thing to note is that this stuff smells divine. A light, ... floral? scent... my olfactory descriptions leave a lot to be desired; it's very pleasant.

The texture doesn't let it down either, a light, creme-gel texture that absorbs readily into the skin and leaves it feeling hydrated, plump and moisturised. It's pumped up with lots of silicones so would serve as a good primer too.

I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and although initially skeptical of it's claims to visibly improve my skin's clarity and tone, I have actually received comments on how my face looks 'awake' and 'peppy', which I'll gladly take!

The only sticking point I can forsee is the price point; at £30 a pop, it's not the cheapest drugstore moisturiser but fortunately there are a few offers going around at the moment:

If you're after a skin pick-me-up in a jar, give this one a go.
